VOLUNTEERING
Our Volunteers have military or non military backgrounds. We need both women and men to help assist our veterans. We need assistance to help in various ways. Due to increases in fundraising and grants, we are able to assist more veterans and their families than in any time in the past. As a result, we need additional caseworkers who are willing to volunteer one day per week for a minimum of four hours. Friends of Veterans will train new volunteer caseworkers - the requirements are a caring person and willingness to have a background check because we do deal with confidential and personal information.
We also need volunteers for office work that includes answering phone calls, logging calls and ensuring callbacks, typing thank you letters, and filing. Experience with Microsoft Word would be helpful but not a requirement. The requirements are a caring person, four hours per week and completing a background check.
The volunteer work is rewarding and we enjoy what we are doing!

Friends of Veterans is funded 100% by outside donations. These donations come from many sources such as grants, foundations, private donors and fund raising activities. Some grants are awarded to us by the federal and stte governments and corporations, other grants and foundations are from private donors. FOV initiates requests for funding and welcomes contributions from the public and private sectors.
Without these funds we would not be able to continue our efforts to assist our veterans at their time of personal crisis. FOV is registered with Guide Star and Charity Navigator, two websites that provide financial information on non-profit organizations. Both of these information services report FOV as a fiscally responsible organization that accomplishes its mission.
Some of our financial partners who generously fund FOV are: Red River Foundation, ASMBA Grant, The Byrne Foundation, Claremont Savings Bank, Mascoma Savings Bank, the State of Vermont, Combat Veterans Vermont Chapter 26-1, The Goergen Foundation and The Harmon Foundation.
Since FOV is a 501(c)3 organization, contributions are tax deductible. We continue to welcome new donors to assist in sustaining the financial viability of our organization.
